This Optimum Pool Technologies flow switch is intended for compatible Hayward salt chlorine generator systems. It should not be treated as a universal flow switch for every chlorinator, control box, or pool plumbing setup.

When to Replace the Flow Switch

A flow switch may need replacement if your salt chlorine generator shows “No Flow,” “Low Flow,” or a similar warning while the pump is running and circulation is normal. It may also need replacement if the cable is damaged, the paddle is stuck, or the connector no longer reads properly.

Before replacing the switch, check the pump basket, filter, valves, salt cell, water level, and plumbing for restrictions. Poor circulation can trigger the same warning even when the flow switch is still working.

Installation Guidance

Turn off power to the pump and salt chlorine generator before removing or installing the flow switch. Release system pressure and confirm the correct flow direction before installation.

Install the switch into the existing tee in the proper orientation so the paddle sits correctly in the water stream. Route the cable away from sharp edges, hot surfaces, moving equipment, and areas where it can be pinched.

After installation, restart the pump, check for leaks, and confirm that the chlorinator recognizes proper flow.

Tee and Related Parts

Because this kit does not include the tee, inspect your existing tee before ordering. If the tee is cracked, stripped, leaking, or missing, the Hayward GLX-FLO-T flow switch tee replacement may need to be reviewed separately.
